Before searching through the FAQ section, I highly recommend that you read the articles or watch the videos in our Blog - The Roommate Room. You will find great information and answers to many questions there.
Here are some common questions regarding our service. If you have a question that is not answered below, please Contact Us and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
Q: How often are there Roommate Happy Hour events?
A: Roommate Happy Hour events are held weekly at each of our locations throughout NYC, Brooklyn and Queens. We do this because we understand that people shouldn't procrastinate and look for their roommate at the last second. You should check out the Roommate Happy Hour in the location where you would like to move to or live.
Q: What if my neighborhood doesn't have a Roommate Happy Hour?
A: As much as we would like, we can't be everywhere - yet! However, if you need a suggestion as to which Roommate Happy Hour you should attend, please Contact Us and we'll direct you where to go.
Q: Why can't I pre-screen people before I show up at a Roommate Happy Hour?
A: Every other roommate site is built on this platform and quite frankly it is terrible. You never know who you are going to have chemistry with so come on out, have a beer (or shot!) to loosen up and let the roommate hunting begin!
Q: What if I am shy and not very good in crowded environment?
A: Don't worry about it, that is what the alcohol is for! Every event is staffed with a Roommate Happy Hour host who will be happy to make introductions on your behalf based on your profile responses and the type of roommate you are looking for. You're in good hands, let us take care of you and we'll do all we can to help.
Q: How much does Roommate Happy Hour cost?
A: Right now, all Roommate Happy Hour events are free. Membership is Free. Eventually when we decide to stop giving away this amazing service for free, there will be three different membership levels and events will cost an arm and a leg. We may even ask for your first born to be named Happy Hour in our honor.
Q: What should I bring to a Roommate Happy Hour?
A: Bring yourself, your ID, a few bucks to support the local establishment, and perhaps an information card about yourself so you can brag about how amazing you are to your prospective roommates.
Q: Can I contact other members through the Roommate Happy Hour website?
A: Unfortunately, No. The entire purpose of Roommate Happy Hour is to get people together in real life, not give you a list of people to email. There is only one way to find out if you can live with someone, you have to meet them in person. So why are you asking this question anyway?
Q: Can I bring friends to Roommate Happy Hour events?
A: Absolutely! We would prefer that everyone who comes to a Roommate Happy Hour show up specifically to find a roommate, but if someone wants to hang out for drinks and help you find someone to live with, we won't mind. However, we do require everyone who attends to register with us. It's free, quick and easy and it's the least you could do to help us out.
Q: How do I determine which Happy Hour event to go to?
A: You are free to attend as many events as you want, wherever you want, all over the City. This is great because if you don't care where you want to live, then there will be roommates in all boros looking for you. However, we do recommend that you focus your initial roommate search at the Roommate Happy Hour in the neighborhood you want to live or move into.
Q: I already have an apartment and want to find someone to move in with me, can I come to Roommate Happy Hour?
A: Absolutely! While the majority of our clients will be looking for a roommate and then want to find an amazing apartment together, some people are looking for short-term flexible living arrangements and would be more than happy to move into your pad.
Q: Why do I have to register?
A: Registration is mandatory for everyone who attends Roommate Happy Hour for several reasons - the most important of which is that you agree to our Terms and Conditions. Roommate Happy Hour is simply a portal for people to meet one another. We do not recommend anyone or vouch for anyone's character. It is your responsibility to thoroughly vet any prospective roommate. We offer Background checks and legal agreements for you to protect yourself.
